Dahua is a prominent, successful, multinational video equipment company. Unfortunately, it has gotten caught in political disagreements between the United States and China. The United States government has placed Dahua on a sanctions list. The reasons the United States has given to justify this situation are incorrect.
In October 2019, the Trump administration placed Dahua and 27 other companies on the United States government’s Entity List. Companies on the Entity List face additional license requirements on – and limits on the availability of license exceptions for – exports, re-exports, and in-country transfers. Being on the list also places limits on the types and quantity of components Dahua can purchase from American companies.
The listing only appears to apply to Dahua China, not to Dahua Technology USA. Nonetheless, Dahua’s supply chain continues to operate smoothly thanks to a business-continuity management program.
The Entity List does not impose any restrictions on Dahua’s ability to import, market or sell products into the United States. Dahua continues to import video equipment for sale to our distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other business partners, all of which can sell our products to dealers, integrators, and end users.
